Trying my best to love you

I was disappointed by Rilo Kiley's last album, Under The Blacklight, given how much I loved Blake Sennett's work on The Elected's Sun, Sun, Sun, and Jenny Lewis's solo album, Rabbit Fur Coat. Both those side projects featured a real earnestness and love of music that was conspicuously missing from Rilo Kiley's last work.

Fans of the band and Jenny Lewis can take comfort in a new solo album, Acid Tongue, making it's way to our ears on September 23rd. Lewis goes back to the country/folk leanings of her first record, and does an impressive Neko Case-alike on the title track. The list of collaborators for the album is impressive to say the least: Johnathan Rice, Farmer Dave Scher, Jason Boesel, Jason Lader, M Ward, Elvis Costello, Chris Robinson, Benji Hughes, and Zooey Deschanel are just a few of the friends along for the ride.
