The Clips play a brand of indie pop that combines all the scatter-shot elements into a single package that gets dancey and funky, poppy and melodic, and rocks out with intensity and style. Their debut album, Matterhorn, at first appears to be all over the map. Once you've listened to it all the way through, though, you can join the dots and see that their songs have that elusive quality of working together as a collective and being able to stand alone in their own right. The opening track , "Wire", pushes the 7 minute mark, but never once gets old or staid; instead, it's a hypnotic introduction that peaks the listeners' interest.
