The truth behind all the Vogues she sold

Pas/Cal can be called pop but that's not really saying enough about these guys. If you read their Wikipedia article, you'll think that they're possibly the saviours of pop music long foretold in the charts, until you realize that one of their fans probably wrote the slightly biased piece. The article does get one thing right, though, and that's the singular vision that all PAs/Cal tracks have: to be the perfect pop song.

This seven-piece band that hails from Detroit, Motor City is set the give us their debut album, I Was Raised on Matthew, Mark, Luke & Laura (Le Grand Magistery), next week, and it's about freakin' time. It's been six years or so in the making, and the culmination of sonic foreplay that has stretched over three EPs worth of material in the interim. Imagine Belle & Sebastian getting a little grittier and bitter, imagine a beautiful, sultry girl walking towards you on a deserted beach, rough to the touch from grains of sand clinging to her wet skin... now imagine what that might sound like.
