Wrestling with the past and winning

I'm not a big fan of the Arctic Monkeys, but I'm becoming ever so fonder of front Monkey Alex Turner as he continues to prove his mettle as a songwriter worthy of the great British pop-rock tradition. Case in point: Turner and Miles Kane of The Rascals have recorded an album under the name The Last Shadow Puppets that is a throwback to classic songs from Bowie and Scott Walker, and is full of the widescreen epic arrangements that reminds one of the glory days of vintage British pop.

The Age of the Understatement (Domino) hit shelves yesterday, so you should be hitting the bricks now and heading down to your local and procuring yourself a copy.
