No apology necessary

Earlier this week, I was reading about The Whitsundays on I Guess I'm Floating and made a mental note to check this Edmonton-based band. Then, a few days later, I came across another mention of the band on CBC Radio 3's blog, again making a mental note to look into this interestingly monikered band.

So yesterday, with a Canadian winter storm to keep me locked indoors, I gave a listen to The Whitsundays. The Beach Boys comparisons are very appropriate, but like other contemporary artists who gather inspiration from past pop practitioners (think Belle & Sebastian, or even Saint Etienne in some respects), The Whitsundays stamp their music with their own unique touch.

Going back to the CBC Radio 3 blog: their track of the day yesterday was "Memories Of Place We've Never Been" by Faunts--The Whitsundays' Paul Arnusch's previous band. You can check out that track here.
