detail of cover art for Morrissey's Greatest Hits
Thanks to Pitchfork for revealing news about Morrissey's forthcoming greatest hits compilation, aptly titled Greatest Hits. The collection gets released February 11 in the UK, but no North American date seems to be available yet.The tracklisting of Greatest Hits relies heavily on Moz's post-millennial albums, with "Suedehead," "The Last of the Famous International Playboys," "Everyday Is Like Sunday" and "The More You Ignore Me The Closer I'll Get" thrown in for good measure, along with two new tracks, "That's How People Grow Up" and "All You Need Is Me." Early purchasers will be rewarded by a limited edition Live At The Hollywood Bowl bonus disc.
So what better choice than to give you a live track which is also one of my favourite (dare I say greatest?) tracks from my adolescent hero? And for good measure, a recently acquired cover of said song by another fan:
Morrissey "Jack The Ripper (Live)"
Colin Meloy "Jack The Ripper"
"That's How People Grow Up" has leaked already, so if you do a little digging, you may be able to find yourself a copy. Also, if you're a Morrissey fan(atic) and have a very special way of showing your devotion, head over to his MySpace page and get yourself a chance to appear in a special ad campaign for the greatest hits album.
Word on the street is that a new studio album will drop sometime later this year.
