Halifax, Nova Scotia native Luke Doucet released his seventh album (third solo) yesterday, Blood's Too Rich. Backed by his band The White Falcon, this highly anticipated album showcases Doucet's adept songwriting skills, as he weaves stories of family and friends; of past experiences and history only heard of. The album drips with a deep sense of Canadian roots rock, effortlessly turning the Cure's "The Lovecats" into a barn storming, foot stomping classic rock number. It sits beside some of Doucet's most earnest compositions, and the best songs of his career.
The man is braving the cold and criss-crossing Canada in the next few weeks. Check your local listings for a stop near you.

Back on October 27, 2007, Luke Doucet teamed up with Amy Millan of Stars in CBC Radio's Ottawa studios for an episode of Fuse. Along with dueting on each other's tracks, they each chose a cover to perform: Doucet's choice was Bruce Springsteen's "I'm On Fire" while Millan's pick was Beck's "Jackass".
