"Chamber rock" as a genre description sounds a bit sketchy to me. My initial thoughts were imagining Joanna Newsom with a Suzi Quatro haircut. Thankfully, Rasputina has a bit more to offer than "harp rock." Throw Rufus Wainwright's backing band in a blender with a couple of pan flute players and any number of female-fronted shimmy-shakers, and you'll begin to approximate this band's sound.Rasputina, "Cage In A Cave"

Rondo Brothers are innovative producers of the highest calibre, having worked extensively with MC Lars and Dan The Automator; they've remixed the likes of The Killers, Handsome Boy Modelling School and New York Dolls. While this may be a bit too far out of my sphere of expertise (Matt's the Hip-hop-xpert) I do know that I'm digging this groove and want to hear more.Rondo Brothers "Dune Stalker"

Ford Pier sounds like the name of a corporate sponsored theme park, but in reality, he's a non-stop recording machine playing his own bran of neo-folk rock. His latest, Organ Farming, features member of Ron Sexsmith's band, Fembots, and The Weakerthans. Pier continues to mine a tradition of Canadian artists who fly in the face of trends and styles to do what feels right, what feels organic to them, crafting a unique sound along teh way.Ford Pier "Angels On Horseback"

The Archibalds are from Austin, Texas, and play a down-home, knee-slapping brand of happy-pants music that will even make your crotchity, 90-year-old, closet-dyke, spinsiter-aunt fart in time to the music. They share a label with previous QBiM-featured artist The Honored Guests (that would be Breakfast Mascot Records--remember the name!) and are destined to be on this blog's year-end best of list. The Archibalds "Sinking Ships"
