Handsome Furs:
"we hate this place here it's our home"

If the sound of confusion could be captured, if you could hear the exact moment a lover cheated on you, if thoughts of paranoia and despair could be given a voice, if the universe could speak after it imploded, it would sound like the sparse and haunting music of Handsome Furs. Dan Boeckner of Wolf Parade and his fiancée, Alexei Perry, have used nothing by voice, guitar and a drum machine to build a very intense and emotional collection of songs that pits urban vs. rural; human struggle vs. fate. You'd be forgiven for not guessing that Plague Park was written and recorded by partners who not only play together but are pledging to spend the rest of their lives together. Plague Park is a beautiful contradiction of musical influences and styles, of emotions and detachment, of yin and yang that comes together and finds a way to fit the pieces in new and interesting ways. Sort of sounds like a marriage, doesn't it?
