Fujiya & Miyagi: Anatomy of a record

I first wrote about Fujiya & Miyagi back in November when I posted their track "Ankle Injuries". It's since become a favourite track on my iPod, so I was excited about getting my hands on a copy of their new album, Transparent Things (out January 23, and available to purchase here), which compiles new versions of songs that originally appeared as 10"-vinyl-only singles, and adds three new tracks. If you liked "Ankle Injuries" then you'll love the swaggering disco stomp of "Collarbone". Vocalist David Best says the song is autobiographical and inspired by breaking his collarbone, twice. Fractured body parts never sounded so hip. "In One Ear & Out The Other" follows a similar formula, and reminds me of Happy Mondays without nose candy residue on their upper lip.
