Bishop Allen release July EP

My favourite online discovery over the past year has been New York band Bishop Allen. Each month in 2006, the band has been releasing a four-song EP of tracks that may or may not be on the follow-up to their debut, Charm School. According to iTunes, "The Monitor" from the March EP is the most played song of 2006 on my iPod (it was available here as a download on my first post--you can still get "The Monitor" by checking out the band's site here). This month's free track, "Click Click Click Click" is about that wonderful summer pastime: crashing a wedding. What sets Bishop Allen apart is that their lyrics are like a snapshot into the lives of their subjects. It's almost as if they're singing a short story or novella to you, but still get plot, setting, character and conflict all in below the 3 minute mark. And it's still first-rate pop music. For my money, July is the best of the EPs so far, and a great place to start collecting all twelve!
